The ranchers and homesteaders in Sunset Valley are feuding and full scale range war is looming. The sheriff has already been killed and the ranchers plan to have their own man elected in his place. When pretty schoolteacher Mary Seaton arrives and meets leading rancher Chick Thompson, it looks like the feud may end peacefully, as Mary is the sister of Jeff Seaton, one of the largest farm owners. But a slim Gordon and Ben Chalmers plan to murder Mary and Chick and put the blame on Jeff. Tonto overhears their plans and The Ranger sets a trap for them. But the bad guys overhear that plan and they set their own trap. Things don't look good at all. Lovely Cathy Downs plays Mary. She played the titular character in the 1946 classic western, "My Darling Clementine," with Henry Fonda. Sadly, that didn't make her a star and her career never took off. Her last role was in a "Perry Mason" episode in 1965. After that, she really went downhill and died of cancer and virtually penniless in 1976 at the age of 50.
