The Newspaper Is Mightier Than The Six-Gun
hogwrassler8 April 2021
Crooked Gold Creek businessman Elias Bradley wants to control the town. He is trying to discredit honest marshal Grant in order to elect his stooge, Luke Potter. Part of the plot involves stealing the printing press of newspaper owner and widow Mrs. Curtis and her 12-year old son Jimmy. They succeed in hiding the press at a burned out flour mill outside of town, but Jimmy followed them. Now can he just get word to The Ranger and Dan before the election? Jay Silverheels doesn't appear in this episode and is replaced by Chuck Courtney as The Ranger's nephew Dan Reid. The Ranger explains that Tonto has been called to Washington to receive some kind of award. He even reads a letter from Tonto, who says he doesn't care much for Washington. Emlen Davies makes the second of her two LR appearances, both in season 4. In addition to this one, episode 24, she was also in episode 4, "The Frightened Woman" in which she played the title character. This is a good episode with some speechifying about how important the press and honest elections are.
