The Ranger and Tonto investigate the disappearance of several deputies who were taking outlaws to Abilene for trial. They come across a wrecked stagecoach on which Deputy Joe Parker was taking Knife Norton for trial. They follow tracks to the isolated cabin of old Uncle Taffy, a seemingly harmless character, and lose the trail. With the marshal's help, Tonto poses as an outlaw being taken to Abilene by new Deputy Jimmy Parker, Joe's son. They soon learn that a respected lawyer is involved with Uncle Taffy in the disappearances. But Uncle Taffy's cabin holds a secret death trap for any lawman who enters.
