Wealthy rancher Walt Wortham owes crooked gambler J.O. Cain a large gambling debt. Cain wants to own Wortham's ranch. He has his henchman Otto bushwhack Wortham and frame poor down on his luck swamper Old Bailey for the crime. It's easy because Old Bailey is known to have needed $500 real bad. The Ranger and Tonto find the body and at first suspect Old Bailey, but, as The Ranger says, "there's almost too much evidence." Sheriff Moss is an old friend of The Ranger and Tonto. He goes along with their plan trap the real killer by spreading the word that there is evidence of the frame at Old Bailey's shack. Will the killers fall into the trap? This episode is fairly interesting and Old Bailey makes for a very likable character, but it's hampered by a weak climax.
