The Barber Blew Himself Up?
hogwrassler15 December 2020
The episode opens with a barber tied to his chair with hoodlums lighting a fuse to a can of gunpowder and it goes off. In the next scene, The Ranger and Tonto hear of big trouble in Gunstock. A protection racket is terrorizing all the businesses. Tonto remarks that "Gunstock is two day ride from here." When they arrive on a hill overlooking the town, the Ranger says, "it was worth a three day ride to get here." The heroes must have taken a day off for sightseeing. When they see their old friend Sheriff Bennett, he seems strangely unconcerned and says the only trouble they have had is when the barber "fooled around with blasting powder and blew himself up." So, the Ranger dons a disguise to snoop around town and find out what is really going on. Eventually, he gets the goods on outlaw leader Hanford. Sheriff Bennett then tells him that Hanford is holding his son to keep him from interfering. The Ranger, Tonto, and the sheriff have to come up with a plan to outwit Hanford and free the sheriff's son. Future Lone Ranger John Hart makes an appearance as Duke, Hanford's chief henchman. A very good late first season episode.
