The Beeler gang kidnaps little Tommy Lawson, the very sick with a bad cold son of Sheriff Bert Lawson and his wife Laura. They want Bert to resign as sheriff and pay a $10,000 ransom. Then the gang will be able to control the town. The Ranger disguises himself as a crooked doctor who treats outlaws. He gets the gang's attention and they bring him to the hideout to take care of Tommy. The Ranger sneaks him out, and the climax is a full gallop chase on horseback, a gunfight, and then a fistfight. Robert Rockwell makes his first of five LR appearances and plays Sheriff Bert Lawson. He is best remembered for replacing Jeff Chandler as Mr. Boynton on the very popular radio program, "Our Miss Brooks." Robert continued in that role when the program became a TV series and also in the movie that was made of "Our Miss Brooks." A very young Beverly Garland plays Laura Lawson, the wife of the sheriff and Tommy's mother. This late first season episode is one of the best of the series.
