A Real Minister Plays The Minister!
hogwrassler28 January 2021
Reverend Randy Roberts has raised money for a church in Gold City. But many of the town's sinful element don't want a church in town, especially crooked newspaper publisher Frank Ferris. He sends his two henchmen to rob Randy while he is returning to town. They get his cash, but not before Randy decks one of the bad guys. As the outlaws ride away, one tells Randy, "if we were afraid of God, we wouldn't hold up a preacher." The Ranger and Tonto arrive to provide Randy a helping hand. The three of them together may be able to devise a plan to smoke out Ferris and end the sinful ways in Gold City. Hugh Beaumont, The Beaver and Wally's dad, plays Randy. Hugh was actually a Methodist minister in real life. Because of his devout faith, he was a conscientious objector in World War II and his career got a big boost by his getting roles that normally would have gone to male stars who were serving in the military. This is Hugh Beaumont's only appearance on the Lone Ranger TV show and his presence really enhances the episode. It's a great one for kids of all ages.
