At the end of this episode, after Radar calls his mother and Colonel Potter is telling him to fill out a discharge form for himself, Hawkeye's injured finger is unwrapped and he is moving it normally. At the start of the next episode, however, it is wrapped up again.
Both Radar and Patty Haven, the young nurse that he meets in the airfield terminal in Japan, state that Ottumwa, IA and Lancaster, MO are "only about 100 miles apart." They are actually only about 40 miles apart.
The Wangensteen suction device described by Col. Potter would not work. Fluid suctioned from the patient cannot collect in an open "chipped beef can." The system works by maintaining suction on the collection bottle which draws the fluid through the gastric tube. If an open can were used, suction would be lost.
It seems strange that the main generator is a portable unit on wheels whereas the auxiliary unit is inside the shed. Also, after the generator stops running it apparently shorts out seconds later. Without the generator running it cannot produce electricity.
In the darkened O.R., just after Col. Potter asks for suction, he moves the portable light being held by the orderly closer to the operating table. He may have grabbed hold of the orderly's hand, although his hand appears for a second to have grabbed the back of the portable light. The portable light would not be sterile, and Potter would now be running the risk of contaminating the patient's wound.
