Corporal Klinger changes his section 8 ploy from cross-dressing to pretending he is a civilian in Toledo and not in the army. During his "exit interview" with Colonel Potter, he reveals his Social Security number as 556-78-2613. In more recent airings, the center portion of the number is usually muted or bleeped.
When Potter plays along with Klinger's discharge scheme and starts filling out the paperwork, he asks Klinger for his mother's maiden name, to which he replies "Abodeely", which is Jamie Farr's mother's maiden name.
In the OR, Charles tells Simmons "around here we don't have time to sew up all the little holes. Just remove the damaged bowel and suture the two ends together." This is a complete 180 from Charles's early days at the 4077th when he was the one who insisted on working slowly and carefully to do a complete surgical procedure.
Military changed from the old serial numbers to social security numbers in the late 60's
At one point in his discharge scam, Klinger refers to Winchester as the doorman at the Commodore Perry Hotel. At the time, the Commodore Perry was a 500-room, 17-story luxury hotel that was a favorite among presidents, celebrities and sports personalities who visited Toledo. In 1955 the hotel hosted the king and queen of Greece. The hotel, though, was a money-loser from its opening in 1927. It closed in November 1980, just 22 months after this episode aired, and was later converted to apartments.
