Out of Order Completely!
Sylviastel6 August 2008
This episode was aired after Vint and Naomi's wedding. Regardless, Vint is divorced, broke, and living with Mama Harper and his old maid, Aunt Fran, and his two kids in the basement of their home. Vint's friend, Claude Cainmaker, hatches a plan. He's also the same man that helped get Vint lose his home and move back home with Mama. Some friend, huh? He speaks with a Portugeuse man who wants his niece Zaida to get married so she can get a green card. Claude thinks of nothing better than asking Vint. When Vint goes home, he doesn't tell Mama about his upcoming nuptials. He soon realizes that he's been had by Claude when the plan goes awry thanks to Mama.

Average episode. *NOT* aired out of order.

Many believe this episode was aired out of order and rightly so. However, with the Alastair Quince intro intact (these intros can be seen on the uncut, Time Life DVDs), it is explained that this episode takes place prior to Vinton's marriage to Naomi.

Sort Of Good
IcyRoses29 June 2010
Even though the idiot producers clearly made a mistake and aired this AFTER Naomi married Vint, it's still a good episode.

Vint gets swaggered into a deal to marry a foreign woman, just so she can become a US citizen. Naturally, things don't go down well with Mama.

The story here is sort of all over the place, but the acting here is surprisingly good, especially by the saver of the show, Vicki Lawrence. The woman who plays the green cared wanting woman, is quite funny and works well with Lawrence. Except for some amateur histrionics delivered by Karen Arigold, the show is fine.
