Love the Ben & Michelle team-up and stay at the spa. Ben is so funny.

Warning: Spoilers
I really love this one because it's a pretty good team-up of Ben & Michelle investigating the murder by staying at the spa. They had great camaraderie and were fun to watch.

I had to laugh when they took Ben's clothes and he had to wear a tracksuit. His reaction, lol. Later he's disappointed that all they eat are herbs. He even tries to steal "real food" but then gets caught. Hilariously, he later really gets into the diet, "pass the thyme, please." Lol. I also love Michelle's reactions to Ben. It's obvious she adores him and finds him funny.

Not much of Tyler in this one. You'd think going undercover at the spa would have made for some hilarity with the character. He did show up later, however, when Ben was getting a heavenly face massage which he loved. Another funny Ben scene.

The mystery was decent enough. J. Kenneth Campbell guest stars. He's notable for playing the oddball patriotic eccentric FBI agent, Ed Wingate, in future episodes. Mainly what I love about this episode is the Ben and Michelle team-up investigation at the spa and how funny Ben is. 9/10.

Calling Ed Wingate!
cranvillesquare31 March 2023
J. K. Campbell - while turning in a reasonably decent performance here as Jack Berlin - just ain't Ed Wingate, that vaguely disturbing, hilarious Inspector Clouseau-like FBI gumshoe of other shows. ("I am...the wind!") In other scenes, we see Ben Matlock (Andy Griffith) doing a late-night refrigerator raid in the kitchen of the health spa he and Michelle Thomas (Nancy Stafford) are staying at while investigating the murder of exercise trainer Christie Huntley (Michelle Zeitlin). She was offed, ostensibly, by the wife of a man purportedly having had an extramarital fling with her; but, as Matlock is defending her, we know she's not guilty. Sooo...whodunit?

Food, glorious food...

Ben and Michelle stay at the exclusive Pinewood health spa in order to investigate several of its employees after their client Donna Stewart is accused of drowning aerobics instructor Christie Huntley, who had an affair with Donna's husband Fred. It seems that Christie Huntley had a penchant for dating wealthy men. Fred Stewart is not only wealthy, but he is also one of the original investors in the health spa since the day it opened. I found it rather amusing to watch Michelle Thomas feeding a plate of herbs to the none-too-happy Benjamin Matlock for breakfast when he clearly would rather start the day by eating comfort food. Along the way, they wonder why certain rooms of the facility are going completely empty. Judge Irene Sawyer presides over the courtroom.
