Minder Classic

This is probably the best Minder episode. Great pace as the duel story keeps the both the laughs and the drama going throughout.

A Lot of Bull and a Pat on the Back

Series 2 ends with a more comedic episode. Arthur is sought out by two farmers and offered £4000 to repossess a bull.

Even at 1980 prices that is money not to be snorted at. It also prevents Arthur thinking if the farmer's story is a load of old bull.

Meanwhile Terry has another woman on the go and is looked up by an old flame. A stripper who has a stalker and wants Terry to look into it.

As Arthur goes to the countryside he has a different outfit with a flat cap. Ironically it was a similar look that George Cole later sported when he advertised a Building Society in the 1980s.

ITV rules state that actors from their shows cannot have a similar look in adverts. It does not apply to BBC shows. So David Jason could do adverts where he looked very similar to Del Boy.

There is a lot of fun and dung in the countryside. The story does not measure up to much.

Beyond far fetched

This one involves Arthur and Terry stealing a bull and his girlfriend being threatened by a man at the club she works at. Two gentleman farmers hire Arthur and Terry to repossess a prize bull and offer a big payday without informing them they are stealing it. Of course when Terry realises this he immediately starts the ridiculous process of returning it. The procedure to do this involves ringing via Dave a policeman to get the address of the gentleman farmers . Even the stupidest villains around wouldn't risk that surely ! It really is that daft and the serious backstory with Debbie isn't much better and seems to be just a platform for long winded scenes of the strip club. A daft story saved only by the superb comedic skills of the leads .

Possibly the weakest episode of Minder ever.

I don't know if the other reviewer saw the same episode as me. This episode has the weakest plot, worst dialogue , worst direction of all the Minder episodes. It's as if they tried to cram 3 storylines in one episode. The nonsense about the bull, Arthur falling in the mud/ cow pats. It was more like Laurel and Hardy than Minder. No Chisholm , no villains. It's only saving grace being a few scenes with Dave the barman in. Truly pitiful. 'What makes Shamy run ' is a zillion times better. No question. Absolute disgrace and an insult to true Minder fans. Best forgotten

A lot of filler
Originally Ep 4 of Series 2 and it shows. It's just a filler episode for a series that was an unexpected hit with Series 1. They get renewed. And all of a sudden the writers have to figure out some original stories for the followup series. Figure out what their characters are really all about.

What a mess.

Arthur is a total clown. Terry has two birds in hand - his stewardess GF and a stripper who reappears later in the Caught in the Act episode at the end of Series 2. But he's a pill, wanting to return the stolen bull and the money. So stupid.

We get gratuitous strip club scenes. And two doofus farmers.

Forgettable all around.
