These In-Laws Have Too Much In Common
DKosty12314 April 2011
Warning: Spoilers
This episode has one main highlight - Herb hitting the deck when Kay the novice golfer gets ready to slug a ball at him on the putting green. That is the main bit of physical comedy here.

The rest is verbal and if your an avid Golfer you get a lot of it. If your not even a duffer, you miss most of it. Still, you get the chagrin the Hubbards have when they find out the Buells have picked the same resort as they have for a vacation and interrupt their second honeymoon. The kids then show up because the weather was bad where they were on their honeymoon and they just happen to pick the same Palm Springs hotel too.

There are no rooms, so the 4 in-laws room together and give up a room so the kids can stay. The sequences of the 4 of them in one room with 2 roll away beds have some of the elements of the Marx Brothers stateroom in A Night At The Opera. Not quite as crowded or frantic but that gives you the idea about the other physical comedy in this episode.

Honeymoon for six.

Warning: Spoilers
When Suzie and Jerry venture out of town for their honeymoon, it isn't surprising that the Hubbards and Buells, thanks to Kay and Eve's manipulations, separately plot to follow them there. When they run into each other, as reluctant partners in a golf game (after Roger has unsuccessfully showed Kay how to play), it becomes apparent that they are there to spy on their children. Due to a busy conference in town, there are no hotel rooms to be had, so Roger and Kay are forced to share a smaller room with Herb and Eve so the newlyweds can have their privacy in the honeymoon suite. It becomes very funny to watch Kay, in her roll-away bed, be constantly forced to get out of it so others can get into the bathroom.

Among the gags are Herb's silly night cap, Eve's gargling as Kay tries to sleep, and how the wives deal with their snoring husbands. I've also got to comment on Eve's very mod pair of pajamas, a combination of giant flowers and huge lollipops. It gets even funnier when Eve and Kay change beds and what happens when their husbands go to the wrong bed when they wake up and think that their wife is calling them or after Eve strikes Roger to stop his snoring in the same way that Kay does. Then there's the reaction of the motorcycle gang to being called out for making noise at 3:00 in the morning. A very funny visual gag with Roger ends the scene as is the smile on Eve's face as she realizes why Jerry and Suzie did not hear the same noises they did. All in all, a very amusing episode.
