In one scene at the Munster home, Grandpa has the TV on, and the theme song to My Three Sons (1960) can be heard, although the screen cannot be seen. That was a popular sitcom which had recently moved from ABC to CBS, the same network as "The Munsters". Grandpa enthusiastically mentions the show by name. Butch Patrick (Eddie) later played a recurring role on "My Three Sons."
This is the first time the sound of breaking wood is heard when Herman walks through the front door during the Season 2 opening credits.
When Eddie asks Lily if Herman is home yet, she replies no but that he'll be home "in two shakes of a werewolf's tail." This is a takeoff on the expression "two shakes of a lamb's tail," which means doing something right away.
