"Oh no, it's Dearth Nadir!"
Mr-Fusion9 March 2018
From what I've seen of "The Muppet Show", the best guest stars know how to play along. You can tell that Kris Kristofferson found it an awkward gig . . . on the other hand, Paul Simon (total non-actor) uses his seriousness as a musician while offering the occasional eye-roll at the hijinks. It works.

But Mark Hamill seems genuinely happy to be there, hamming it up at every turn and going all-in with the musical numbers. This episode aired three months ahead of "The Empire Strikes Back", so it's hard to dismiss his appearance as publicity-related. But there he is, beaming like he's just now made it on prime-time. That look of joy speaks volumes. And seeing Miss Piggy dressed as Princess Leia is one of the best images I've ever seen.

God, this was such a good show.

Muppets in space! A "Star Wars" crossover.
blanbrn20 May 2021
This "Muppet Show" from season 4 number 17 which first aired in Feb. Of 1980 was clever and a fun watch as it featured "The Stars of Star Wars"! The film still buzzing with wonder and popularity from nearly two years earlier was a pop culture catch even with the "Muppets" the segment involved Mark Hamill mixing in and out with his cousin named Luke! Plus Mark displayed his talent of singing on the episode. Plus the parody of the Muppets in space with Skywalker, C-3PO, and R2D2 was spot on a fantasy and nice sight on the eyes of fans. As the search for Chewbacca was the reason for travel. It was nice at the end to see the big Wookie cut the rug and do a fury dance step! Overall classic vintage episode a crossover one that fans of both "Star Wars" and the "Muppets" will cherish and keep in memory.

Mark, I Am Your Cousin
Having Luke Skywalker and Mark Hamill appear on the Muppet Show is such a clever metaphor for celebrity renown. Mark wants to show that he's more than Luke Skywalker, but his "cousin" Luke almost literally hogs all the attention. Furthermore, Mark gets to show off his many talents, particularly his talent for voices. Although he wasn't a big name in voice acting yet, he had been voice acting since 1973. I love how Miss Piggy calls C-3PO "hardware". Scooter has his own lovely little fantasy which the 'I'm Not a Loser' number from 'The SpongeBob Musical' is reminiscent of.
