Warning: Spoilers
It's another site for the first amendment as Murphy's tribes to protect a source that leaked a classified Senate report to her. She's threatened with contempt of the Senate, as well as a prison term, yet protects her rights against the bigwig senators questioning her, constantly putting their feet in their mouths revealing their idiocy in trying to manipulate her and make her reveal her source out of threatening tactics. This hysterically exaggerates the pompousness of elected officials, and when one of the senators ridicules her for being unwed mother, and opens up a whole can of slimy political worms. Murphy realizes that if she kow-tows to their demands, the whole future of journalistic integrity will be in danger. Her colleagues rally around her when they are subpoenaed as well, knowing full well with the outcome could be if Murphy is forced to reveal her source. A great way of reminding the public that political officials work for them, and we should not feel threatened by calling them out when their message of running the government fail or reveal corruption. This senators come off as complete buffoons, a real insult to clowns.
