DON'T STUMBLE WHEN YOU TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE?
tcchelsey29 July 2023
That's the story behind the story here as Steve and the gang go back to his hometown --for a little side trip. Always so true that you cannot go back home again, especially after 25 years!

Some familiar sights here, since the show was filmed as Desilu, where you get to see ANDY GRIFFITH's house and the usual Mayberry store fronts, doubling as Steve Douglas' old home town.

Best of the best is Fred MacMurray meeting fellow old timer Virginia Grey (as his old gal friend, Ellen). She plays a harried housewife, with a noisy family and a cramped, messy house --and she is married! My gawd!

Watching frustrated Fred is so much fun. It's too bad, though, that they didn't make it more sentimental as Virginia Grey and he made a good team, at least for old movie fans sake. Grey's career went back to silent films, when she was a child. At the time of this episode, she appeared in MADAME X.

Look for veterans Burt Mustin and Percy Helton as old guys sitting around town, also Irene Tedrow who needs help with her groceries? Tedrow appeared on a ton of classic tv shows, foremost DENNIS THE MENACE.

From SEASON 7 CBS dvd restored box set.
