A TOUCH OF FILM NOIR IN THIS ONE.

An excellent episode, again showing how the guys were growing up FAST. Here, Robbie has fallen for a chorus girl (well played by Pamela Austin). Robbie thinks the world about Dawn... but it's Uncle Charley who has his doubts, and really makes it clear to Steve. The big switch here is Charley is playing papa bear, as opposed to Steve, who kind of takes it all in stride.

Popular writer Gail Ingram wrote this episode, in addition to 18 others for the series, and put in a nice dramatic slant, if not on the noirish side. She exposed, just so briefly, the far different world Robbie would be getting himself into with Dawn, who actually was a very good person, but not your average high school tv sweetheart. In a surprising scene, Steve and Charley happen to look at some revealing photos of Dawn, and even by 60s standards, they're revealing. No other way to put it!

Finally... it all comes down to Dawn inviting Steve to have a little talk, and you probably know what's coming. The ending is very poignant and well written by Gail Ingram. Ingram actually began her career in radio, writing for the SHADOW mystery series.

Pamela Austin would appear three times on the show, her claim to fame was appearing in two Elvis Presley movies, BLUE HAWAII and KISSIN' COUSINS. She also worked at Warner Brothers tv for many years, in such classics as 77 SUNSET STRIP and SURFISIDE 6.

A good episode, and what made MY THREE SONS into a terrific series. From SEASON 6 remastered color dvd box set.
