***SPOILERS*** It's when New York City junk-man George Paraskis, John Larch, laid his eyes on this flouting junk heap on the Hudsaon River docks the S.S American Dream he immediately fell in love with it. This the S.S Amerian Dream is his ticket out of the junkyard where he worked and slaved for over 20 years and into the swanky and high society world of the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Feeling that the boat will get him selling it piecemeal at least $100,000.00 John tries to convince his partner Jerome "Apples" Sidener, Charles Tyler, to go partners with him on the deal only to be told that he's nuts and not to bother him. In a fit of anger John belts "Apples" over the head with a sledge hammer killing him and buries him under a pile of bricks from a wall that he demolishes.

With "Apples" not showing up for work or not being seen by any of his neighbors for the next three days the NYPD is called in to locate him with his partner John doing his best to cooperate in and effort to hide his involvement in "Apples" murder! We soon see John going apart with guilt in what he did by neglecting his long suffering wife Grace, Madeleine Sherwood, and friend and co-worker Millard Jeffers, Percy Rodrigues, who's sick and hospitalized young son Robby, Edward Whaley, just thinks the world of him. John ends up going so far as to get a quick $25,000.00 with an immediate 15% vig or interest payment from local loan shark Quist, Roger C. Carmel, to start his grand project in scrapping the S.S American Dream the poor confused and desperate junk-man digs himself into an even hole that he just can dig himself out of.

****SPOILERS*** What was supposed to be the American dream for John ,the ship S.S American Dream, turned out to be his American nightmare. And soon the guilt of his murdering his partner and good friend "Apples" started to sink into his thick skull and begins to drive him nuts. It's then that he also broke up with his old lady Grace who just had all she could take of his obsession in making it big in the junkyard business with his ticket out of it, or so he thought, the S.S American Dream. Even though he really couldn't to anything to help his failure to see little Robby Jeffers who idolized him the evening his passed away, from heart failure, really flipped the on the verge of a nervous breakdown John out. By then John finally realized what he did and was more then willing to face the consequences. We see a broken and defeated John Paraskis walk into the 65th police precinct as the "Naked City" episode ends and tearfully admits his crime interrupting a shocked Det. Adam Flint, Paul Burke, as he and is fellow cops are busy interrogating an out of town and on business John, a man who seeks out prostitutes, and his hooker.
