When Rodney (after being brought back from the morgue) starts to fall over at the poker table, Nash asks Joe "what's up with the guy with aces and eights?" In Poker, aces and eights is widely known as the dead man's hand, as it was purportedly the hand Wild Bill Hickok was holding when he was shot in the back of the head in 1876 (although purists might note Hickock's hand was supposedly all black cards, and Rodney's is not).
