Warning: Spoilers
A not very inspired episode has Bo Hopkins (who later replaced Beth Davenport as John Cooper on "The Rockford Files") get Nichols involved with a phony gold mine scam being run by Dabs Greer (who appeared in "Where's Houston?" on "Rockford) and the Most Interesting Man in the World, Jonathan Goldsmith (he appeared in "The Empty Frame" and the "Aaron Ironwood" "Rockford" episodes.

With the town all in investing in the gold mine, Nichols has to figure out a way to turn the con on the con men and get the town back its money.

It seems like a fairly typical Garner situation, but the script just isn't very inspired. It feels like it needed a twist or two that we DON'T expect rather than the ones we see coming a mile away.

Still Garner is charming and watchable as usual. Stuart Margolin has a moment or two as well, but all in all the episode seems to fall short.
