Oscar's (Jack Klugman) ex-wife Blanche is played by actress Brett Somers, who is perhaps best known for her regular appearances on "Match Game". Jack and Brett were married in real life for 24 years, from 1953-1977. They had two children together, David (b. 1959) and Adam (b. 1963).
This was the first appearance of Brett Somers, Jack Klugman's actual wife at the time, as Oscar's former wife, Blanche. Ex-wives were mentioned and alluded to in the film, the play and the first season of the series but they were never actually seen until the show's second season.
The title is based on the quote from Love Story (1970): "Love means never having to say you're sorry."
