- TriviaMs. Frost (Reta Shaw) announces she served as a colonel. In Jeannie and the Wild Pipchicks (1968), she played Colonel Finch.
- GoofsAfter Felix puts his foot down, and Claire 'Frosty' Frost is quitting, she says there can only be one 'top kick.' Felix mentions he was a lieutenant in the army. Ms. Frost, claims to have been a colonel.
The 'top kick' in the army is a company First Sergeant. A colonel is a battalion or brigade commander. If Clair "Frosty" Frost had been in the army, she never would have made such an error.
- Quotes
Claire Frost: When you come home, be sure you step on the papers, because I'm going to shampoo the rug.
Felix Unger: Oh, about that. I wonder if that could wait till tomorrow. You see, Mr. Madison's a sportswriter, and he wants to watch the football game on TV tonight.
Claire Frost: Mr. Unger, who's the housekeeper here, you or me?
Felix Unger: Well, you are, of course, but Mr. Madison's the patient, and I guess we'll just... we'll have to humor him.
Claire Frost: I'm not Soupy Sales, and this is not the Comedy Hour.
Felix Unger: You do have a way of filling a room with tension, don't you?
Claire Frost: Mr. Unger, I know your type. You want to be liked. But in my job, you can't be soft. You have to wield an iron mop.
Felix Unger: Ms. Frost, I am no powder puff, appearances to the contrary notwithstanding. He's going to watch the ball game. I'm putting my foot down.
Claire Frost: Do you think you're any match for me?
Felix Unger: No, but I'm... I'm... I'm putting my foot down.
Claire Frost: When I left the army, I made a promise to myself. I said, "Frosty, there can only be one top kick in any outfit, and that's me."
Felix Unger: I was a lieutenant in the army.
Claire Frost: I was a colonel!

Instead, he meets his match, in terrific character actress Reta Shaw ('cal me Frosty', who has him sitting in a (white) sheet-covered living room; 'Felix: what's with the sheets? Oscar: 'We're having a Klan meeting'.
For those who remember Ms. Shaw, she's built like a tank - of solid stature, with a puff of white hair, and a growl of a New England accent. She's definitely NOT the lilting, soft-spoken Mary Poppins.
The Odd Couple was an 'actor's show', meaning that it attracted top-quality character actors, because of the show's terrific writing, and in Maid for Each Other, Ms. Shaw certainly keeps up with Klugman and Randall.
The Odd Couple is a timeless classic, but, even though there've been repeated attempts to bring the show back, none have had the terrific combination of Klugman and Randall, who ARE Oscar & Felix.
There's many moments of out-right laughter, and many of the laughs come from the brilliant mannerisms, inflections these top-notch actors give, be it Felix shaking his finger, or looking like a hound-dog, to Oscar's manic outbursts, this is a show, which, VERY sadly, today's 'actors' are incapable of.
It's NOT just 'reading lines', as today's 'actors' would do; it's timing, pauses, and HOW lines are read, which make The Odd Couple a classic.
