The first time Del Boy is seen fly-pitching, and one of the rare instances where Rodney joins in instead of just being a lookout.
This episode is clearly linked to The Miracle of Peckham (1986) when Granddad is talking to Rodney about how Del Boy used to donate to the church roof fund. John Sullivan went and wrote a whole episode based on the same idea five years later.
This episode marks the first appearance of one of Del's former fiancées in the series, which later became a regular occurrence.
Del says that he was a little infant when his parents got married in 1947. He was 15 years old when Rodney was born, which would make him around 36, meaning he was born in 1945. Therefore, he would have been 2 years old when his parents got married.
Near the start, Del says, "She got married to that Bobby Finch and went to live abroad".
Bobby Finch is also mentioned in Minder, If Money Be the Food of Love, Play On (1984), "Hang on a minute, I was having a drink in The Prince Of Wales the other day with Bobby Finch".
Bobby Finch (Robert Finch) was a professional footballer who played for Queens Park Rangers and who, sadly died of meningitis on 18 September 1978, at the age of 30.
