Patty tries to pass off Cathy's perfect 100s as her report card instead of the 70s she got. In French class she got a 65. She blames her teacher being preoccupied with getting married. Patty goes to school the next day to find herself instantly attracted to the substitute teacher, Andre Malon (Jean-Pierre Aumont, "Lili"'). She begins taking French seriously, becoming a top student in the class. Andre talks of Paris in romantic tones that captivates Patty even further. She adopts a mature mindset and confesses her love to Andre. He goes to Patty's father for advice. A plan to act much older backfires, as does promises to cheat, drink, and gamble. Can something, or someone, be found to discourage her?
