The fictional Los Angeles Wildcats are played by members of the real-life Los Angeles Rams football team.
Bill Williams (who plays Burt) was Barbara Hale's husband. They are the parents of William Katt, who plays Paul Drake Jr. in the later TV movies.
The fight song Burt sings is actually the tune for the alma mater of many schools, but with different words. Syracuse University, Cornell University, the College of William & Mary, University of Alabama, Indiana University, University of Missouri, University of Georgia, University of North Carolina, Vanderbilt University, Swarthmore College, Howard Payne University, The University of Akron, and American University of Beirut all use this popular tune. It is from a popular 1893 ballad called "Annie Lisle".
The mysterious "Mr. Schwump" from The Andy Griffith Show (1960) makes another appearance in Perry Mason (1957). In this episode, he is a courtroom spectator sitting in the back row on the "defense side". (As usual, he is not even "uncredited".) His other appearance was in The Case of the Drowsy Mosquito (1963).
