The episode's title refers to lyrics from the Elton John song Candle In The Wind, which was a tribute to Marilyn Monroe (real name Norma Jean Baker).
The storyline is a variation of what Anne Baxter does to Bette Davis' character in All About Eve (1950). Marilyn Monroe was a bit player in that film.
