Raven needs some time away from civilization and goes to a secluded island for a break. He goes bare bones, intending to live off the island resources for a few days, sort of in survivor mode. A Black Dragon warrior tracks him there. He wants revenge as Raven killed his father in the Black Dragon wipe-out.
I thought this one had such great potential as Jonathon and Black Dragon warrior were both in survivor mode and were hunting each other. Well, Raven had no choice after the warrior attacked him. It started out great with both men being shown in split screen, their tactics and maneuvers being shown as they tried to outwit each other. A quiet but interesting perspective. But then the girl showed up. That's pretty much when the episode was ruined for me. She was annoying and loud.
Anyway, I thought this was a missed opportunity to do something dark and interesting if they had just kept it between the two men on the island. What a perfect time it could have been to show some flashbacks of Raven's past. Maybe some of his training, and maybe more with his dealings with the Black Dragon cult, or even with his parents when they were alive. They could have even had flashbacks for the warrior too. But they did none of this and instead ruined the flow and cool direction this was going in by bringing in the girl.
They could have had Ski with a girl dynamic on his boat. That way they would have contrasted the show with some light comedic moments with the great Lee Majors who is very charismatic and funny in this role. He's probably the best thing about the show now that I look at it again after all these years,
The fight at the mall was strange with all the spectators. I wondered what would happen in terms of charges, trial, testimony, and conviction. Oh boy, I'm overthinking this for a show with a bikini babes opening credits. Lol.
These are just my thoughts now all these years later. I did watch the show back in the day and was disappointed when it ended. Now that I look at it again, I can see it was really too light of a series for a character with such a dark past. It was also too "Baywatchy" with the bikini babes in the opening credits, and too many of those types of shots in the show. You just couldn't take it seriously. There are too many cliches about secret ninja warrior stuff that seems very absurd to me now. Anyway, this episode, started out pretty good. Lee Majors was great, and the fight scenes were good. But the flow of the plot took a dive for me. 4/10.
