Yearns like Walter Mitty
bkoganbing26 November 2016
Although this Rawhide episode starts out with a Murphy's law kind of disaster of a day for Eric Fleming, cattle stampeded, supplies lost and him staggered by all the things going wrong, still the trail boss goes to the nearest town to see his old friend Allyn Joslyn who is the town banker to cash a draft. At this point this story turns into an episode laced with humor.

I won't say how, but Joslyn due to the nagging of his wife Lola Albright yearns like Walter Mitty for the life of a cowboy. He kind of 'persuades' Eric Fleming to change places with him.

All I can say is that neither is cut out to do the job that the other has. Only it takes Joslyn a lot longer to realize it.

Some really funny bits as Joslyn tries to ride a horse, brand a calf, and rope a steer. Joslyn as trail boss tries to run things with a committee meeting of the drovers. Eric Fleming is equally uncomfortable and gets to be very unpopular with the townspeople.

This one is a must for Rawhide fans.
