- Gil Favor: You run into a lot of things on a cattle drive before you get where you're goin'. Stampedes, floods, sickness. But one thing's with you all the time. You can't get away from it, you can't lick it - the same faces day after day, week after week. You look at each other, or you look at the cattle. After a while, you can't tell the difference. I'm getting that way myself. My name's Gil Favor, trail boss.
- Gil Favor: Hey, Quince, when are you going to realise something?
- Jim Quince: What's that?
- Gil Favor: Good little man is no match for good big man.
- Gil Favor: Now that's the story, that's what's happened to her. I don't think anybody needs to ask any questions. Her name is Jenny Watson. She'll be riding along with us until we hit Silver Junction. That is, provided nobody has any objections. Well?
- Rowdy Yates: [She is favourably scrutinised by each of the men, and none is more smitten than Rowdy] Nice to know yer.
- Jenny Watson: It's good though.
- Mushy: You're fooling.
- Jenny Watson: Oh, it's really good, Mushy.
- Mushy: Well, I ain't always gonna be a cook's louse. I'm just doing it for a while to help out.
- Jim Quince: Oh, he's gonna be a real gunslinger. That right, Mushy?
- Joe Scarlet: Show how fast you can draw, Mushy. Fast as grease lightning he is. Trouble is, he can't hit nothing.
- Pete Nolan: I've scouted a lot of trails. This is the first time I ever saw one that led to a dancehall on wheels.
- Gil Favor: What, you're old-fashioned, Pete. This is the new way of doing things.
- Pete Nolan: You won't always be around when Dave and Rowdy get ready to tango.
- Gil Favor: She likes you fine.
- Rowdy Yates: She say that?
- Gil Favor: Look, Rowdy, I got plenty to do without playing matchmaker. Ask her yourself.
- Rowdy Yates: Well, what I'm trying to say is I'm sort of serious about her.
- Gil Favor: You want me to name ONE GIRL you see that you're not serious about.
- Rowdy Yates: I mean it this time.
- Gil Favor: Well, I believe that. You always mean it.
- Rowdy Yates: Aw, you don't understand.
- Gil Favor: Only this time it's a bit more sudden than usual, isn't it?
- Kid: We're gonna be the richest brothers you ever knew. Richer than some of those fellas you used to meet Saturday nights.
- Jenny Watson: They still wouldn't let you in.
- Jenny Watson: You don't leave a girl any pride, do you? I sneak off from camp in the middle of the night, just to see you. And all you do is sit there and talk.
- Rowdy Yates: Come here.
- Wishbone: Well, I been around a long time, and I never yet seen anybody with a smart answer for a 45 pointed right down your ear. Nobody alive that is.
- Gil Favor: Supposing one of them doesn't care what happens to me. What's to keep him from going for help?
- Blake: I'll tell you why they wink. Most any man would kill in a fight. If he was liquored up, or over a woman. But not one of them would kill in cold blood. That's where I got the edge. I would. And they know I would.
- Gil Favor: I guess you would at that.
- Blake: Keep remembering it and we'll get on fine.
- Jenny Watson: Rowdy, I'm sorry it had to you. It was nice being treated like a lady. I hope someday you'll find a real one.
