Paul Brinegar takes the center stage as he gets to thinking about the joys of domesticity in this story. Wishbone is starting to wish for those 'good vittles, love, and kissing' as Frankie Laine sings in the Rawhide theme.
He spots a kid stealing flour when he's off to the general store getting supplies for the drive. Wishbone follows them to the ramshackle shack they call home to a sick mother played by Barbara Barrie. Wishbone kind of adopts the whole group as they sure make him think of what he's missed on all those trail drives.
There is a father, a drunken and angry Paul Lambert. He's mad over the mess he's made of his life. From there things result in tragedy, but possible salvation as well for Barrie.
Both Rawhide and Wagon Train were done at Revue Studios. I'm sure I've seen this same story with that other curmudgeon cook Charlie Wooster.
Good in either series.
