Norman Lovett particularly enjoyed the fact that he was able to feed his lines from inside a production truck while the rest of the cast had to suffer with the beach's cold weather, tide, and sand.
This episode features the only physical appearance of the often-mentioned character Yvonne McGruder, although she does feature as a hologram in an earlier episode.
Rimmer's middle name is revealed to be Judas.
This was the first episode to feature scenes shot on location. The beach scenes were shot on Rhyl Beach in Wales during cold, cloudy weather. Craig Charles and Danny John-Jules kept shivering during a scene in which they were meant to be sunbathing on the beach. So the scene was re-written to take place on a golf course. Director Ed Bye convinced the crew that sunshine could be added in post-production. But this was not possible due to the show's small budget. Sunshine effects were eventually added in the remastered version.
During filming, Craig Charles kept stalling the motorcycle he and Cat ride away on, so Charles is not the person riding the bike as it moves away from the camera.
