Gregory Scott Cummins, aka Mac's Dad from It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, plays the same unhinged, wild-eyed heroin-trafficking criminal type he does on that show, making this an excellent addition to the larger It's Always Sunny canon.

Warning: Spoilers
Valerie, the woman Reno Raines was engaged to be married to but got shot during an attempt on his life in the "Renegade" series pilot and had been in a coma ever since, dies. The crooked Lt. Dixon (played by the series' creator, Stephen J. Cannell) orders a fake TV report of her "reviving", and although Reno suspects that it might be a trap, he goes to see her anyway. Of course it IS a trap, and Reno gets arrested and thrown to jail. Now he must find a way not only to escape, but also to deal with Dixon and an entire underground squad of dirty (figuratively and literally) cops. "Val's song" is interesting for being the first episode since the pilot that advances the storyline of the series so much (instead of just being a random "bounty hunter" adventure), and I have to admit that Cannell is not a bad actor at all.
