Because Colleen Dewhurst died before the filming of this episode, all of her scenes were pieced together from previous episodes and other productions she was involved in. These include The Quarantine at Alexander Abraham's (1990), The Materializing of Duncan McTavish (1990), Of Corsets and Secrets and True, True Love (1990), Anne of Green Gables (1985), and Lantern Hill (1989).
Colleen Dewhurst was originally scheduled to appear in an earlier season 3 episode, but due to her death the script was scrapped and rewritten as this tribute episode to explain the death of Marilla Cuthbert.
Rachel refers to Marilla's outright refusal to plan ahead for death when Rachel could have bought 2 coffins for the price of 1.This happened in the episode "Of Corsets, Secrets and True, True Love" from the previous season. It can be assumed by Rachel saying that she was prepared that she subsequently planned ahead for her own death.
