Helen is determined to host her snooty sister Ethel and show her she can entertain as well as Ethel's rich friends. Stanley's delay in paying the power bill results in their electricity being turned off. He tries to hide this from Helen, just as Ethel and her husband Hubert (Rod Colbin) arrive. As darkness falls, Stanley uses an extension cord for the living room lamp to run off the Brooke's apartment. Comical complications ensue when the Brooke's find out.
