Very Good First Episode
hogwrassler27 July 2020
This was the first episode in season 1. I am watching it now on The Cowboy Channel. A young man is wrongfully accused of murdering his fiancé's father. Dale and Bullet break him out of jail so that he can prove his innocence. Roy is "filling in for the Ranger" so he has official lawman status. In addition to jail breaking, Roy and Dale conduct what would normally be an illegal search of a house, but not so in the kid's TV show jurisdiction. Harry Harvey is Sheriff Blodgett and in this first episode he is beholden to the bad guys for his job, but is honest enough to keep the sheriff job for most of the series run. Pat Brady comes across as clever and quick thinking, and not so much the clumsy buffoon he would be for the rest of the series. Rand Brooks and Nan Leslie have good roles. This was a fine episode to launch the Roy Rogers Show and laid the groundwork for a long running series that many of us oldsters still enjoy today.
