We Bake Our Own PIES
hogwrassler22 December 2020
Thelma, a pretty young girl has recently returned to her home town of Mineral City and is working in Dale's Mineral City Cafe. Pat is quite smitten with Thelma, and an early scene has them washing the cafe windows together, next to a sign that reads, "We Bake Our Own Pies." When an FBI agent arrives to interrogate Thelma, the RR Gang learns that Thelma is the girlfriend of Chick Dillon, a notorious John Dillinger-like bank robber. But they don't know that Dillon is in town and is partners with Lance Carter, the respected and seemingly honest owner of the Mineral City Finance Company. When Pat intercepts a note to Thelma from Chick, the lawmen are able to lay a trap for him. Dale stays with Thelma in her room and tries to soften her up and convince her of how wrong she is about Chick. The trap fails when Thelma pushes Dale down on the bed and alerts Chick by throwing a clock through her window. Everyone chases Chick's car out of town but Chick slips back. He kidnaps Dale and Thelma willingly goes with him. Roy and the lawmen will have to use all their resources to save Dale and catch this smart and vicious bank robber. Will Thelma ever see the light? The scenes of Dale and Thelma sitting on the bed together and Dale with her right arm around Thelma's shoulder and her left hand firmly gripping Thelma's left arm would be quite suggestive if done today. But back in the 1950s such scenes with two women were fine and nobody thought anything about it. This is an excellent episode with Brett King doing a fine job as the vicious killer Chick Dillon.
