- Kramer finds Jerry's old birthday checks from his grandmother and insists he deposits them, which puts Nana in unexpected debt. Elaine accidentally tells the high talker a secret. Mr Pitt eats a Snickers bar with utensils.
- Jerry hosts the annual PBS pledge drive and asks George to get some of the Yankee players to appear on the show. George comes through and gets Danny Tartabul to appear on the show. Kramer discovers that Jerry has been getting some birthday cards from his Nana with money inside. He cashes them in and suddenly Nana's bank account is overdrawn. Nana then goes missing. Jerry gets in trouble with Elaine's friends (one of whom has an unusually high voice) when Elaine starts a rumor that the wife was hitting on Jerry. George thinks everybody is giving him the finger and decides to follow one offender while driving Danny Tartabul to the pledge drive. Kramer volunteers to become a phone-answerer for PBS and Elaine discovers that Mr. Pitt eats his candy bars with a knife and fork, starting an unusual trend.—halo1k
- Jerry is invited to participate in a PBS pledge drive and gets George to get one of the Yankee players to appear, though not without some difficulty. At Kramer's insistence, Jerry cashes some old checks his grandmother had sent him for past birthdays. Unfortunately, there isn't any money in the account leading her to leave her apartment and go to a rather seedy part of town. Elaine meanwhile has trouble with a couple whose voices are identical.—garykmcd
- Elaine's boss Mr. Pitt (Ian Abercrombie) eats a Snickers bar with a knife and fork, starting a trend that seems to sweep the city. Jerry and Elaine deal with a couple (Dan (Brian Reddy) and Noreen (Kelly Coffield)) who sound similar on the phone. Jerry claims to Elaine (who is Noreen's friend), that Noreen was hitting on him. Elaine calls Noreen and asks if she was hitting on Jerry, not realizing she was actually talking to Dan
Jerry cashes checks long since written by his grandmother Nana (Billye Ree Wallace), causing her account to become overdrawn. Kramer had discovered all the checks in Jerry's mail (some dating back to 1987) and convinces Jerry to cash them. When Jerry's grandmother tries to call him about the checks, Elaine answers the phone and assuming it's Dan (a "high-talker") tells off Jerry's grandmother, telling her to drop dead.
Kramer gets a Thank you card from Kristin (Rebecca Staab), who is an exec for PBS. Jerry has agreed to do a fund-raising drive for PBS and as a Thank you, Kristin agreed to have Kramer man one of the phones on the pledge drive. Kristin is offended when she visits Jerry and finds that a greeting card that she sent him, is now in Jerry's trash can.
Jerry convinces George to bring Yankee Danny Tartabull to the PBS taping to placate Kristin and to make up for the offense he caused her. At the taping Uncle Leo (Len Lesser) turns up and scolds Jerry for not telling him that he was short on cash and gives him some money.
Dan also turns up at the PBS office & attempts to confront Jerry about the allegations of Noreen hitting on Jerry. Jerry again mistakes Dan's voice for Noreen's and sends Kramer to deal with "her". The dialogue between Kramer and Dan leads Kramer to think that Dan has a thing for Jerry. Kramer then passes himself off as a PBS executive, suggesting Dan watch various LGBT related programs (assuming Dan is gay)
George meanwhile delays Tartabull to chase down a driver who supposedly gave him the middle finger. Earlier, at Monk's cafe, George challenges one of the charges on a check and he says that the waiter pointed the charges to him with her middle finger. He does a test when he makes Jerry ask a question to the waiter, who gets a forefinger in response and when George follows up with a question, he gets the middle finger. This enrages George and makes him more sensitive when the same thing happens when is driving Tartabull to the PBS taping. George chases down this upstart on the highway for an hour outside of NY. He finally catches up with him at a gas station, only to realize that the guy has a broker hand with his middle finger taped to be in the upright position.
At the taping, Nana calls in, hoping to speak with Jerry. Kramer picks the phone and convinces Nana to donate $1500 to PBS. Uncle Leo steps into live TV saying that Nana is on fixed income and can't do that, & stops the show. Kirstin sends another card to Jerry, which has a bunny giving him the middle finger.
