Det. Sgt. Cassandra 'Cassy' St. John : [Cassy comes into the crime scene] Oh, I know, late.
[she proceeds to put on a pair of white latex gloves for the crime scene investigation]
Det. Sgt. Cassandra 'Cassy' St. John : Forgot to set my alarm.
Det. Sgt. Tom Ryan : Forgot to set her alarm.
Det. Sgt. Cassandra 'Cassy' St. John : Yeah, forgot so what of it?
Det. Sgt. Tom Ryan : You know, you guys got to get more sleep at night.
Det. Sgt. Cassandra 'Cassy' St. John : Yeah, but I never sleep on Wednesday night, it's garbage night.
-
Lauren : [recognized his scent] I used to work at the perfume counter.
Det. Sgt. Tom Ryan : Judging by the looks of this car, you and your husband might have owned the store.
Lauren : I'm not married.
[chuckles]
Det. Sgt. Tom Ryan : I'm not disappointed.
[holds out his hand]
Det. Sgt. Tom Ryan : I'm Tom.
Lauren : [shakes his hand] Lauren. Nice to meet you. Oh, this has been so stressful, I need a mocha latte. Can I buy you one for being so heroic?
Det. Sgt. Tom Ryan : Yeah.
[nods, then remembers:]
Det. Sgt. Tom Ryan : No. I've got to go to work. I'm sorry.
Lauren : Oh, what do you do?
Det. Sgt. Tom Ryan : Oh, I'm... I'm a cop.
Lauren : Really? I'm impressed.
Det. Sgt. Tom Ryan : Oh. Well, maybe some other time.
Lauren : Absolutely.
Det. Sgt. Tom Ryan : And... I should get your number.
Lauren : Oh, yes... I have a pen.
Det. Sgt. Tom Ryan : And I don't have any paper.
Lauren : Paper is so impersonal.
[writes her phone number on his hand]

Det. Sgt. Cassandra 'Cassy' St. John : [re getting forgetful] Oh... what if it's Alzheimer's?
Det. Sgt. Tom Ryan : Oh, come on, Cassy, don't be ridiculous.
Det. Sgt. Cassandra 'Cassy' St. John : Oh, yeah, that's what everybody says. "It will never happen to me." And then it does. You see, I think it's better to assume that it will happen to you, and then be surprised if it doesn't.
Det. Sgt. Tom Ryan : Congratulations, that made absolutely no sense.
Det. Sgt. Cassandra 'Cassy' St. John : This coming from a man walking the streets wearing a latex glove?
-
Det. Sgt. Tom Ryan : Harry, I met a girl, all right? We were pumping.
Capt. Harry Lipschitz : [sharply] What?
Det. Sgt. Tom Ryan : Gas. At the gas station. She held my hand, Harry, she wrote her phone number down in my hand.
Det. Sgt. Cassandra 'Cassy' St. John : Aw, I used to do that in grade school.
Det. Sgt. Tom Ryan : [sarcastic] Like you'd remember.
[nods]
Det. Sgt. Cassandra 'Cassy' St. John : Ah-ha.
Det. Sgt. Tom Ryan : Harry, I don't know what happened, I mean, I should have gone into that station immediately and written that number down on paper, but I, I, I don't know I locked up and I put this latex glove on my hand...
Capt. Harry Lipschitz : Let me, let me get this straight. An experienced cop like you can't remember a lousy phone number?
Det. Sgt. Tom Ryan : It's seven eight something something,
[shakes his head]
Det. Sgt. Tom Ryan : I...
Det. Sgt. Cassandra 'Cassy' St. John : Oh, okay, now who's talking memory?
Det. Sgt. Tom Ryan : My hand, my story.
