Homer turns to religion to help him get what he wants and is soon awarded the church in an injury settlement. He then turns the church into his personal party pad and Reverend Lovejoy leaves Springfield to wallow in its hedonism.
Flanders tells Homer that praying has led him to success, so Homer starts praying over anything. When praying for a new house he falls into a hole outside the church and sues them. When the church can't pay him the $1 million he is awarded by the court, Homer takes over the church and makes it his new house, which leads to Reverend Lovejoy leaving town.—Emil Petersen
