- When Tom Dooley, the king of talkback radio, arrives in Emu Springs, it's clear he's not impressed with the town, or its radio station, 3ES, where Ryan is in the chair and station manager Helen Virtue is enchanted with the rhythms of the Tango. Despite this, Helen offers him a job which he at first refuses. However, Tom craves public adoration and can't resist the lure of the microphone. Meanwhile the fate of the Emu Springs ball is under threat from the new guard as Julia Rutherford and Sally Sabatini go head to head. Young Harry finds a friend in old Len Taylor and Doug Rutherford, the local Senator, thinks he's been exposed when Dooley takes to the airwaves.
