- Computer: Emergency Operation Exodus. Indefinite factors. One: Moon on unknown trajectory. Two: Constantly changing G-forces due to Moon's movement away from Earth. Three: Insufficient data to compute flight plan. All factors in memory bank relating to Operation Exodus inapplicable. Insufficient data available under prevailing circumstances. Human decision required.

- Jim Nordstrom: Professor Bergman, it's Jim Nordstrom. We've just passed through the laser barrier, and we should be ready to start Doctor Russell's manual check on the radiation seals in a couple of minutes.
- Cmdr. John Koenig: Attention all sections Alpha. This is Commander John Koenig. As you know, our Moon has been blasted out of orbit. We have been completely cut of from Planet Earth. As we are, we have power, environment; and therefore, a possibility of survival. If we should try to improvise a return to Earth without travel plots, without full resources; it is my belief that we would fail. Therefore, in my judgement, *we do not try*.
- Cmdr. John Koenig: Whatever affected the two probe astronauts, and killed the other nine men, wasn't radiation
- Prof. Victor Bergman: Seems not
- Cmdr. John Koenig: Damnit!
- Collins: [Losing composure] Commander, I've got to get out of here!
- Cmdr. John Koenig: [Unaware of Collins's rising distress] All right Collins, we're leaving right now...
- Collins: [Becoming agitated] Now. Now! NOW!
- [Koening turns to look at Collins, whose right eye is now completely clouded over]
- Collins: Move aside Commander! I'm getting out-!
- [Knocks Koenig and Bergman to the floor in a blind rage. He then staggers to an exterior window and repeatedly slams his helmet against it. Cracks begin to appear in the glass immediately]
- Cmdr. John Koenig: DON'T DO THAT COLLINS! YOU'LL KILL US ALL!
