This episode was almost scrapped due to the fumes given off by the liquid used to coat the ice cave set. Martin Landau initially refused to work within the set, so experts had to be sent for to run tests. After that problem had been sorted out, the caustic soap used for the fake snow almost took the skin off of Landau's face.
This episode's title was taken from a 1936 poem by Dylan Thomas, "And death shall have no dominion," which itself was taken from St. Paul's Epistle to the Romans 6:9, "Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him" (KJV).
One of the seven series episodes to be adapted by Power Records in the mid-70s as an audio drama for children. The basic plot of the episode remained unchanged, with many scenes reproduced word-for-word.
