An archaeologist loses her hand in a structural collapse outside the hospital. There is a great effort to find it and then reattach it. Elliot becomes a compassionate voice for her. He tries his hand at surgery but not with good results. Craig continues to monitor the artificial heart implanted in the sheep. Ellen enjoys her new job running the food service.
