Frank Lambert keeps saying very disparaging things about the French. He claims that the French are short and Americans much taller. In fact, it is quite the opposite. French men are considered average at 6 feet tall, whereas very few American men reach that height. When his wife gives him a pair of red satin underwear, she calls them "French cut", which is nothing but a made up American appellation, to describe the cut in the legs that reaches high towards the hips, and has nothing whatsoever to do with France or what people wear there. French men do not wear don't wear effeminate underwear.
