Quotes

  • Clark Kent : L.L.? Lana Lang? What's Lana doing with a guy like Luthor?

Lois Lane : You know her?

Clark Kent : We... used to date.

    Lois Lane : Get out!

Clark Kent : In high school.

Lois Lane : She's certainly come up in the world.

    [off his look]

Lois Lane : From Smallville, I mean.

  • Clark Kent : Lana, you know I really care about you. You're like...

Lana Lang : Clark Kent, I swear, if you say "I'm like a sister to you" I'm going back to Lex!

Clark Kent : Sorry, but I know you'll find that special person someday.

Lana Lang : [Kisses Clark]  So will you. You deserve it. Someone quiet, understanding, patient...

Lois Lane : [shouting]  Hey, Smallville! Get your tail in here! Perry's got an assignment for us!

  • [Lana's kidnappers shoot bullets at Superman, without effect]

Superman : Maybe you ladies haven't heard about me.

Big Susan : Yeah, we heard...

[pushes Lana out of the elevator]

Big Susan : You like to save people!

  • Big Susan : [after kidnapping Lana]  Keep your mouth shut, Missy. We got a room where you're gonna slip into something less expensive.

[Lizzie notices something out the elevator window]

    Lizzie : Look out!

[whips out her gun and aims it at the window. Lana ducks to reveal Superman floating outside. Lizzie fires at Superman, to no avail]

Superman : Maybe you ladies haven't heard about me.

Big Susan : Yeah, we heard.

[rips the jewel off Lana's dress]

Big Susan : You like to save people!

[kicks Lana out of the elevator. Superman dives down after her and catches her in midair]

Lana Lang : I imagine you hear this a lot, but thanks.

    Superman : Hold on.

  • Lana Lang : [admiring Superman's outfit]  Hmm. Red, blue, yellow. Primary, but it works in a superhero-ish kind of way. Let me guess, Martha sewed it for you.

    Superman : What?

Lana Lang : By the way, Clark, how are the folks?

  • Superman : [talking with Lana at her apartment]  I still don't see how you knew.

Lana Lang : Oh, come on, Clark. Just because I'm gorgeous doesn't mean I'm stupid. I saw you do all those amazing things back in high school, then Superman shows up in Metropolis the same time as you do.

Superman : How do you know when I showed up in Metropolis?

Lana Lang : I've been keeping track.

  • Lana Lang : Clark, I've been trying to reach you all day. Listen, the reason you haven't been able to find the merchandise in Metropolis is it isn't in Metropolis. It's in Central City. Our friend has a factory there.

Clark Kent : How do you know this?

Lana Lang : I overheard him. Oh, Clark, this is how it could be forever: me ferreting out crooks, you catching them.

Clark Kent : Lana, I told you I didn't want you spying on Lex anymore.

Lana Lang : I wasn't spying. I was sitting right next to him.

    Clark Kent : Lana.

Lana Lang : [her doorbell rings]  That must be the limo. Gotta run. Remember, Central City is 500 miles away. I suggest you... schedule a flight.

  • Lana Lang : Let me go, you maniac! Help! HELP!

Mr. Eelan : That won't do you any good, Ms. Lang. Nobody's here. The factory is fully automated because of the lead fumes. In fact, there's so much lead residue on the walls, I doubt Superman could see through them, even if he weren't in Central City.

Superman : [crashing through the ceiling]  You're right, Eelan. I couldn't see you, but my hearing's pretty good.

  • Superman : Lana, I've come to warn you.

Lana Lang : About Lex. I know. Everyone has. Powerful men get those kinds of reputations. And I like powerful men.

Superman : Lana, this is no joke. That man Luthor was speaking with tonight, he's a known arms dealer, responsible for the deaths of thousands of people.

Lana Lang : And you think Lex is buying weapons through him?

Superman : No, selling. I think Luthor's got a stockpile somewhere he's trying to unload.

Lana Lang : Well, you're wrong. Besides, I know how to handle Lex. I know how to handle most men, in fact. It's only Clark Kent I've ever had any trouble pinning down.

Superman : For me, Lana, just be careful.

Lana Lang : For you, Clark, anything.

  • Lana Lang : What are you doing here? I thought you'd be in Central City.

Superman : You overheard too much. It was too easy. I knew Central City had to be a setup, so I followed you.

  • Mercy Graves : I'm telling you, she heard everything. Maybe I should take her for a nice little ride.

    Lex Luthor : No!

Mercy Graves : But she was listening.

Lex Luthor : Of course she was listening. A woman like that is going to be curious about things, especially me. Anyway, what does it matter? She couldn't have possibly understood what it meant.

Clark Kent : [in a stairwell, Lana dials her phone]  Hello?

Lana Lang : Clark, it's Lana. You were right. And the deal's going down today.

  • Superman : The terrorists are keeping their mouths shut, but those weapons had "Luthor" written all over them. I just wish I knew where he was keeping them stockpiled.

Lana Lang : Don't forget, you still have me.

    Superman : Oh, no, I don't. It's too dangerous.

Lana Lang : Mm, but we make such a perfect team.

    Superman : No.

Lana Lang : I could be your trusty sidekick. Your Dr. Watson, your Batgirl.

    Superman : Definitely no.

Lana Lang : I... I still have feelings for you, Clark. I knew it the minute I saw you again. Don't pretend you didn't feel something, too. Let me prove to you how good we could be together.

    Superman : Lana, I don't...

    [she kisses him]

Lex Luthor : [observing from a distance, in disgust]  I've seen enough.
