On the first transmission of Series 2, this episode was replaced at short notice by Trojan Bus (1975) because on the day that Thou Shalt Not Kill was scheduled to be transmitted, a major armed robbery with many similarities to its storyline was committed. Thou Shalt Not Kill was transmitted a few weeks later as the final episode in the series, originally scheduled to be Trojan Bus.
The blue Morris 1800, registration OTM 168M, in which Wands and Monk initially escape from the bank siege, was also used in Golden Fleece (1975) as the car which Det Supt Pettiford drives when he takes Haskins home. It is recognisable by the distinctive handwritten letter "O" on the front registration plate.
Debby Harris (Jimmy Wands) later appeared with John Thaw in Fit-Up (1984). He also later appeared with Dennis Waterman in The Devil Wept in Leeds (1990)
