Pat Garrett : Yeah. There's a third thing he can do... he can stay put on his own side.
[Billy tells Pat he's giving up his guns to impress Charity who does not approve of weapons]

Pat Garrett : You know what they say about the leopard and his spots?

William Bonney : Yeah, but I ain't a leopard, Patrick... I'm a man.

Pat Garrett : Yeah? Suppose Conway causes more trouble?

William Bonney : Keepin' the peace is your job.

Pat Garrett : Keepin' the peace is everybody's job.
Pat Garrett : Billy, this is tough, violent country. Sometimes the only way a man can stay alive is fighting for the privilege. I'd be plenty scared to stop wearin' my gun.

William Bonney : Maybe that's 'cause you don't have anyone waitin' on the other side of the wall waitin' for you, Patrick. Even if there is trouble I figure my chances are good 'cause I got two people fightin' for me.

Pat Garrett : Two?

William Bonney : Well, you're on my side, ain't ya?

[Billy gestures towards heaven]

William Bonney : Charity says He's on my side. What better odds can you give me?
