Forget The Alamo
claudio_carvalho29 November 2009
Doug and Tony are transported to the Alamo in 1836, on the eve of the battle of Alamo. They unsuccessfully try to convince Colonel William Barret Travis to remove the wounded from the doomed fort, but the reluctant military believes that they want to undermine the morale of his troops and does not give credit to their words.

"The Alamo" is another shallow and forgettable episode of "The Time Tunnel". Doug and Tony are involved in the doomed and controversial battle of the Alamo, the beginning of the end of the Mexican state of Tejas, but there is seriousness in the plot. My vote is seven.

Wistfully The Alamo wasn't a right choice in face so doomed place and predicable outcome!!!

Even the writers cherry-picking the most meaningful events on the history, to some extent The Alamo wasn't a fulfilling choice, firstly for a largely known history by Americans and also by the large majority worldwide, therefore so foreseeable letting Wanda and Bob Duncan small range of build up an average screenplay to fill the empty space in face of the doomed place.

Thus remaining to Doug and Tony just the ignominious task to persuade the Col William Travis (Rodhes Reason) to relinquish the Alamo due they say that no one will happen there so soon, henceforth Tony and Doug are helped boils down in searching for medical supplies for a dozen wounded american soldiers, admittedly too scarce to ours heroes, aside all those old footage inserted on the infamous battle, the writers had a bright idea to take the obnoxious Col. Travis at Time Tunnel complex, giving an improvement on the weak story.

Concerning about the two sole reviews posted previously here, the first find out the weakest story however gave 7 out 10, subsequently another reviewer complained about such discrepancy, well I'd to say that its worst it may seem no vote shouldn't be less than 7/10 due greatness of this magnificent series conceived by the great Irwin Allen!!

Thanks for reading.

Tony and Doug are in 1836...the time of The Alamo.

I don't really know what to make of the previous reviewer here. He mainly says the episode is poor but then gives The Alamo seven out of ten??

This hour might not but one of my favourites but the ending is so powerful (helped along by the stock footage) and the whole thing has that wonderful sense of doom-to-come that Irwin Allen does so well in many of his TV shows and movies.

However, my favourite character, General Kirk (Whit Bissell), gets too little to say and do.
