- In recognition of Inventors Week in Los Angeles, two segments are devoted to real inventions, some of them new and others dating to the 1880s; they include medical devices, kitchen gadgets and sporting goods. George Foreman talks about beating Joe Frazier a week earlier to become heavyweight boxing champion. He discusses his philosophy of boxing (which he calls "fighting") and credits his manager with his success. He says he started boxing in 1967 on the suggestion of people he met at a Job Corps center, and recalls winning Olympic gold just a year later. He talks about appearing on an upcoming Bob Hope show, and mentions his goal of getting a college degree. He also recalls his rambunctious youth, and notes that bigmouths usually turn out to be poor fighters as opposed to quieter guys, and admits that his combative nature when younger was based on his insecurity. Sandy Duncan discusses being newly married to one of the doctors who had treated her for a brain tumor behind her eye. They honeymooned at a ski resort, but she doesn't ski; feeling some jealousy over seeing her husband skiing with other young women, she tried to learn but didn't do well. She also talks about how she moved to New York City from Texas at age 19, living in a residence for young women in entertainment; she recalls a humorous incident during the November 1965 power blackout. Steve Martin does a stand-up routine of comedy for dogs, with four restless hounds providing an audience. During the following interview he gives pointers for spotting someone cheating at cards, and demonstrates card tricks. Binnie Barnes talks about her career and family, recalling how she took her stage name from a young woman in Piccadilly Circus. She mentions that she was the youngest of 16 children, and talks about the responsibilities of arranging funerals for her older siblings, including finding a suit for her brother's burial. She also discusses her upcoming movie 40 Carats with Liv Ullmann and Gene Kelly, and comments on playing a grandmother.—lenab9011
